What can counselling offer me - Therapy offers you a safe, nonjudgemental space to express your concerns in a way where you feel heard. It gives you the ability to shift these concerns in a way where your quality of life improves and your mental wellbeing benefits not only for the short term, but with long term benefit as well.
How much is a counselling session - There are two session types offered. A complimentary 'Meet and Greet' introduction appointment is scheduled for 15 minutes for you to determine if how support is offered fits your needs. When further counselling appointments are booked, they are $150 plus HST for a 50 minute session.
If I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment how far in advance do I have to do it - If your appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled (life is unpredictable and things happen, I understand) please do so with at least 24 hours notice to your appointment time.
What if I cancel last minute or I forget to attend my appointment - If you have to cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice a 50% charge of the appointment fee will be applied. If you are not in attendance during your booked appointment time, the full charge of the appointment fee will be applied.
What form of payment is accepted - At the time of booking, a valid credit card will be needed and upon completion of our appointment, will be charged.
Are counselling services covered - If you have third party coverage, these services are covered by the majority of plan carriers under the Psychotherapy heading. Private pay coverage is available to all individuals. Currently, Nurse Practitioners are not able to bill through OHIP so OHIP covered services are not available.
Can my sessions be billed directly to my insurer - The invoice is made directly to the client with the invoiced paid upon completion of the appointment. The invoice can then be submitted by yourself to be reimbursed by your third party coverage.
Who decides when treatment ends - Sessions are built upon mutual respect and understanding. Practising within a respectful environment, you the client decide when you no longer seek care - be it paused and initiated again in the future, or whether you've gained the support you needed and complete therapy. If a concern is needing further advocacy than my scope or skill, I would discuss this with you in finding further support options.
Are sessions confidential - All services provided to you are confidential including documentation of sessions. Virtual sessions are not to be recorded in any way. Only in the following circumstances would confidentiality be broken; If I am required by a court of law to provide record of sessions, if there is an imminent risk of harm to self or others disclosed, if a minor is being harmed or at risk of harm. I am legally bound to report these instances for ensuring safety.
